چکیده

The housing environment has become a critical issue for consumers of eggs and egg products. Therefore, it is imperative to understand how various environments can affect the modern laying hen. In this study, alongside 40th NC layer performance test, four different were chosen based on industry prevalence, which include conventional cages, barren, enrichable colony enriched cage-free environments. Hens in these raised following standard feeding lighting practices. This study found that cage hens had highest production level, while from barren cages lowest level. Feed efficiency followed similar trend, where best feed efficiency, by hens. also largest eggs, smallest eggs. Cage-free mortality rate, rate. From data shown, appears standard, provide white layers with most optimal performance. However, further evaluation health stress needed determine provides hen welfare.

Effect of High and Low Stocking Density on Age of Maturity, Egg Production, Egg Size Distribution in White and Brown Layer Hens: A Meta-analysis

Data of four layers flocks (#31-34) from North Carolina Layer Performance and Management Test of the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services were used in the meta-analysis to find if an increase in space allowance can affect egg production traits in white and brown layers. Effects of space allowance of 310 and 413 cm2/bird on layers performance were compared in this study. The increase ...

Effects of Levels of Inclusion of Locally Processed Fish Waste Meal in the Diets of White Leghorn Layers on Performance Parameters, Hatchability, Economics, Egg Production and Egg Quality

The study was conducted at Haramaya university poultry farm to evaluate the effects of locally processed fish waste meal (FWM) in the diet of white leghorn layers on the performance and hatchability, egg quality, sensory flavor and profitability of the rations. One hundred eighty chickens at five months of age were randomly distributed (15 layers per each 12 pens). The pens were randomly assign...

Effect of egg size on heat production and the transition of energy from egg to hatchling.

An experiment was conducted to study the effect of egg size on embryo development, heat production, and energy partitioning between egg and hatchling. Small (56.1 +/- 0.12 g SEM) and large (70.0 +/- 0.11 g SEM) hatching eggs were incubated in climate respiration chambers, and eggshell temperature was maintained constant at 37.8 degrees C in both egg weight classes by adjusting machine temperatu...
